• A person who offers to do something of one's own free will.
• Someone who offers to do something without being forced.

Here you have some useful definitions to understand this
unit:
Vocational
training: school based
preparation for work. (Ciclo formativo, módulo)
Apprenticeship: work based training of young employees. You
get paid while you learn.It usually lasts for 3 or 4 years and covers trades
such as carpentry. It combines practical experience at work with a formal
qualification through a Registered Training Organization. (Aprendizaje, maestría).
Placement:
a temporary job that is part of a course of study and that gives you experience
of the work you hope to do at the end of the course. The American word is
internship. For example: a three-month placement with the BBC. / The third term
is spent on placement in hotel or tourism companies.(práctica en una empresa)
A sandwich
course: a college course consisting of periods of study with periods of
work between them so that students get practical experience (2 days- 3 days)
Vocational
qualification: it prepares you directly for a job or trade.

academic qualification: it is not directly related to the world of work.(Estudios)
A trade:
practical often manual job.(Oficio)
A
profession: a job that you need special skills and qualifications to do,

Work
your way up: to achieve a better position within the organization you
work for. Increase your status at work, starting from a basic job and finishing
in a senior position (Ir escalando puestos).
Get a
promotion: a move to a higher
level in a company, institution, or sport. Apply for and get a better job.(Conseguir
un ascenso).
